Motivate to Engage – Project Results

As the Motivate to Engage project (Erasmus+ KA2 2021-1-HR01-KA210-YOU-000027439, 2021-2023) draws to a close, we are excited to look back on the incredible journey we have undertaken since 2021. This Erasmus+ Small scale partnership in youth KA2 has been a collaborative effort between two organizations from Croatia and Hungary and it was driven by a shared mission – to subtly and indirectly inspire vulnerable young people to transform their lives by providing essential tools for youth workers, who work with these youngsters.

A common vision:

Our partnership has been united by a single vision: to empower young individuals by equipping them with the tools to change their mindset, self-regulate in times of stress, and nurture essential soft skills.

Aim of the project

Our project’s objective was also to learn from the experience and expertise of our project partner to fill in the gaps missing in both of our organizations needed to continue working with youngsters on their motivation and to create something useful and beneficial together.

Being intrinsically motivated, having the right set of key competences for lifelong learning and having skills to deal with stress will help this youth to make better career and general life choices. Before the project, youth workers did not have all the necessary tools to achieve this and we wanted to change it.
Therefore, the main objective of the project was producing results that would be used by the participating organizations’ youth workers – creating a Guidebook and Reflection kit.

These results could be used by our colleagues, other European organizations and professionals, such as teachers and mentors, working with teenagers in their countries, as well.

The results are aimed at teachers and youth workers who want to:
1) work on the development of their intrinsic motivation
2) improve their key competences (multilingual; personal, social and learning to learn competence; cultural awareness and expression competence)
3) teach them methods to overcome stress.

Diverse Approaches, One Destination:

Youth work is very diverse and takes on many different shapes, but we discovered that diversity is our strength as our organizations brought different methodologies to the table.

Biom and Edunaut work with the same aim in mind, fostering the intrinsic motivation of youth we work with, however there are differences between the two organizations. EDUnaut, consists of a diverse team and uses foreign language teaching (content based learning) combined with the content and concepts from the positive psychology movement (growth mindset, resilience, character strengths) in a non-formal and gamified setting (in addition to sexual health counselling). BIOM is a group of psychologists using the outdoor learning and  problem based workshops. BIOM uses a combination of experiential education, trauma-informed care, nature based therapy and systemic approach.

 The Impact We Have Made

Youth workers have the opportunity to access structured materials in one place, useful didactic tools to use in their work without investing too much time and energy in researching, compiling, experimenting with the approach or creating materials on their own. They now have a guidebook they can go to whenever they want to create and deliver a workshop with youth, they have a starting point and a guide –  tool they can use as a ready-made material, a repository of inspirational step by step advice and a textbook for their practical non-formal work and a reminder what and how to do it.

We provided the synthesis of different tools and methods that can be used to foster motivation (to achieve success, develop lifelong learning skills and become more resilient to be able to cope with stress) based on the existing practices and the one that were developed, tested out, refined and improved.
